“The impressions of our residents were excellent. They are all women and most of them live with dementia. It is noteworthy, that after every meeting they comment on some of the information they have been given during the program. Normally, when an activity is completed they clearly feel better, but rarely do they discuss about the activity itself. However, after thāllo and the Museum of Cycladic Art visits, the ladies wanted to comment on some of the information provided, as well as on the activity as a whole. This proves that there are messages that were imprinted in their mind, as they aroused their interest.
I believe that the success of the program is due to the special way in which you approach them and you convey information. The exhibits are impressive and their history unique, but they wouldn’t be enough to keep them focused for sometime because of their dementia. The combination of the activities, where all senses participated, has created a holistic intervention that touched each and every one of the ladies in a different way, through the retrieval of different and special memories.”
